Birds of a Feather

Soar into the world of birds at Ripley

This program focuses on the many funny feathers of the world and their uses while investigating birds, wings, and flight!

How do birds use feathers to fly? Why are some feathers so colorful? Why don't ducks get cold in the water? We will ask our Avian Ambassadors these questions as well as learn other unique ways that feathers help our avian friends survive. 

We discuss

• Feathers: We will investigate this unique adaptation that defines birds!
• Structure and Function: Our avian ambassadors will demonstrate how they use their feathers and we discuss how feather form fits function.
• Flight: We investigate the similarities between birds and planes and learn how birds fly! ​
