Give Local 2021

Picture

Hosted by the Connecticut Community Foundation, Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills, Give Local unites individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations with one goal: to raise as much money as possible for the community work of hundreds of local nonprofit organizations.

This online giving event will take place, for the eight consecutive year, over 36 hours on April 20th and 21st.

Donations can be made to Ripley at any time during the event at GiveLocalCCF.org and every dollar that is donated will be boosted further with a percentage of bonus dollars.

Your support is critical.
As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, many non-profits are experiencing decreased revenue streams. Give Local provides an opportunity for organizations, including Ripley, to recoup some of those lost dollars and gives donors an opportunity to help out from the comfort of their homes.

How has Ripley been impacted?

Throughout the past year, Ripley's dedicated aviculturists have continued to worked through the Covid-19 crisis to maintain the daily high level of care for over 400 beautiful rare and endangered birds. We have also introduced new species to the Conservancy, including a pair of critically-endangered Siberian Cranes. With only 3200 left in the wild and 19 in captivity in the United States, preserving these cranes in captivity as the disappear in the wild is a perfect example of why Ripley's mission is so important.

Our team has done an outstanding job adapting to the many challenges of operating a non-profit within Covid-19 guidelines. The Conservancy is an ideal outdoor setting for safe, socially-distant activities and we have enjoyed providing a peaceful place for the community to get away from the stresses of the past year. We were fortunate to be able to offer a Covid-safe, modified version of summer camp to local children during an incredibly challenging year for them, and for their parents.

While we have welcomed new supporters in addition to our long-time friends, we have still felt the loss of many essential revenue-producing programs and event cancellations over the past year. This is difficult for a non-profit like Ripley, but we continue to show up for our birds, students, and members of the community every day.

Please show up for them too, by helping us provide access to inspiration in a time of need. Join us in helping our team continue to provide care for our birds and offer new programs and opportunities for visitors in Connecticut and beyond!
