Microplastic Pollution

"Water, water, everywhere,
Nor any drop to drink"
-The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Samuel Taylor Coleridge
While originally referencing a sailor's need for drinking water while surrounded by the ocean, we can now apply this quote to our lack of clean water resulting from plastic pollution and human debris. In this presentation:

  • Track a plastic bottle from the moment it is thrown on the ground to its final resting place in the ocean
  • Investigate wildlife species that come into contact with our litter and the results of this unnatural interaction
  • Examine environmental processes that breakdown our macro-debris into micro-sized particles
  • Learn about simple and efficient methods to reduce our plastic waste
Join our Educator and learn how deep in trash we really are. This program can be modified for any audience, scientific background, and age.
