KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
-We are following all current CDC COVID-19 Protocols.

-Benches and restrooms are available.

-October through the end of May are the best months to observe male ducks in their breeding plumage.

-Photography is encouraged, but please read the Conservancy's Photography Policy, whether your photos are for personal or commercial use.  Professional photographers as well as any photographer seeking greater access for that "perfect shot" should consider purchasing a Half-Day Photography pass.

-For the health and safety of the birds, no pets are allowed on the grounds. This includes service dogs as their presence fundamentally alters the nature of our program. Please read sections Q25 and Q26 from ada.gov/U.S. Department of Justice/Civil Rights Division/Disability Rights Section.

-Smoking is prohibited anywhere on Conservancy property.
HPAI Precautionary Measures:

Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy is currently implementing preventative measures to protect our resident birds from contracting Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI).  After the February announcement of positive cases in wild Mallards and Black ducks in New Haven, New London and Middlesex Counties.  HPAI is concerning for waterfowl species and can be highly infectious and fatal to them.  In response to HPAI we have implemented a few preventative measures that will help keep our birds healthy, and may impact your visit:

• We have temporarily closed two of our walk through aviaries.  These aviaries can still be viewed from outside the aviary.
• Netting has been installed over other exhibits to prevent wild birds from congregating.
• We ask that guests who have been near poultry farms or backyard chicken flocks to refrain from going into indoor exhibits or barns.
• As the virus is transferred by fecal matter, shoe disinfection may be required to enter specific areas to limit birds' exposure to outside materials.

Please feel free to call our office with any questions, 860-567-2062.
