President

Thomas Lovejoy, Ph.D.
Thomas Lovejoy is a Professor of Environmental Science and Policy at George Mason University and a Senior Fellow with the United Nations Foundation.  He was the Biodiversity Chair at the Heinz Center for Science, Economics and the Environment. Dr. Lovejoy conceived and has overseen the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments project (a joint project between the Smithsonian and Brazil's INPA), a landscape ecology experiment aimed at understanding the effects of habitat fragmentation. Thomas also originated the concept of debt-for-nature swaps, and is the founder of the public television series Nature. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. in biology from Yale University.
