In this program, you have the chance to conduct a hands-on investigation of the Conservancy's wetland. Explore native Connecticut flora and fauna and conduct scientific experiments to determine wetland health.
We discuss:
What is a wetland
What lives in a wetland
What factors determine wetland health
If onsite, students will collect, observe, and identify organisms living in the Conservancy's wetland by using collection nets, magnifying glasses, microscopes, and identification charts, gaining a better understanding of the plant and animal life found in this ecosystem. Students will then use a variety of techniques to measure the health of the water. If offsite, Conservancy staff will bring the wetland to your classroom with a "wetland in a pail!"
